AMERICA/BRAZIL - International Conference for New Communities, new impulse to Evangelisation in communion with the mission of the whole universal Church

Sao Paulo (Agenzia Fides) - On Wednesday 1 November there was the inauguration of the 12th International Conference of New Communities in Canção Nova, Cachoeira Paulista, Sao Paulo. The Conference began with a Mass presided by Archbishop Alberto Taveira of Palmas, spiritual director of Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Brazil RCC. Among those present Archbishop Stanislaw Rylko, president of the Pontifical Council for the Laity; Rev Albert-Marie de Monléon, Spiritual Assessor of Ecclesiastics of the Catholic Fraternity; Fr Jonas Abib, founder of the Canção Nova Community and member of the RCC and president of the Fraternity of Communities of Life and Alliances of Latin America. Matteo Calisi, international RCC director and founder of the Community of Kesis and international president of the Catholic Fraternity of Communities of Life and Alliances and Charismatic Associations.
For Matteo Calisi the Conference offers an “opportunity to strengthen spiritual bonds with Pope Benedict XVI” and said he hoped the initiative would “give new impulse to the work of evangelisation of our communities in communion with the mission of the whole universal Church”.
Participants include communities from all over the world, as well as 13 bishops and 50 priests founders of new communities.
