Monday, 19 December 2005

Beijing (Fides Service) - On 18 December Holy Saviour parish or Bei Tang (north parish) celebrated 100 baptisms and gave a warm welcome to the new members of the Church. One of the newly baptised adults said “this year at last I can live Christmas as a Christian”.
In his homily the parish priest encouraged those present to strive to live a Christian style of life. He underlined the importance of living and promoting Christian values especially in view of the holy feast of Christmas nowadays marked by consumerism. The solemn mass with baptisms ended with a warm welcome to the new brothers and sisters followed by refreshments for all.
During Advent parish groups and associations in various Beijing parishes collected funds or organised fund raising activities in aid of elderly people in Catholic Homes and to pay school fees for the children of poor families. (Agenzia Fides 19/12/2005 Righe: 16 Parole: 161)
