Hong Kong (Fides Service) - The Hong Kong diocesan Commission for Liturgy has issued a new edition of the Sunday Missal in Chinese to meet the needs of the community. According to the diocesan bulletin Kong Ko Bao the Commission organised a series of meetings for clergy religious and laity to illustrate the elements of the new Missal. Some 50 priests, religious and lay Catholics attended one of these meetings in Hong Kong cathedral.
The Missal used hitherto in Hong Kong diocese was translated over 20 years ago and there was a need for a new translation in keeping with recent Instructions issued by the Vatican Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments “Liturgiam authenticam” in 2001. For the new Sunday Missal Old Testament Scripture readings were taken from the Chinese edition of Studium Biblicum Franciscanum 1999 and the Gospel readings were taken from a 2005 translation.
