EUROPE/POLAND - Celebrations for the 4th anniversary of the death of John Paul II

Czestochowa (Agenzia Fides) – Today, April 2, 4th anniversary of the death of Servant of God John Paul II, there will be various cultural and religious events taking place throughout Poland, dedicated to John Paul II. “April 2 is a day to remember John Paul II, his life, and his great Pontificate. This day in memory of him is especially dedicated to the youth of “Generation JP2,” Fides was informed by Father Andrzej Parusinski, Director of the Scouts Ministry for the Archdiocese of Czestochowa.
According to reports sent to Fides from the Catholic weekly “Niedzela,” a Mass for the beatification and canonization of the Servant of God, John Paul II, will be celebrated by Archbishop Stanislaw Nowak of Czestochowa, in the Church of Saint Ireneus. There will be a Prayer Vigil for students of the “Watra Academy.” There will be various prayer encounters in the parishes throughout the Archdiocese. The Rosary and the Scouts' Vigil will be held in the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. (MF/SL) (Agenzia Fides 2/4/2009)
