Tuesday, 28 October 2008

Czestochowa (Agenzia Fides) – Here are some of the initiatives for the Year of St. Paul, scheduled to take place during the 6th celebration of Christian Culture Days in Czestochowa (which began on World Mission Sunday, October 19, and will end on November 2): a Pastoral Letter on the Letters of Saint Paul, from Czestochowa's Auxiliary Bishop Antoni Dlugosz; on October 30, at the “Niedzela” (the Polish Catholic magazine) headquarters, an encounter with Cardinal Stanislaw Nagy on the figure of Saint Paul, Apostle and Theologian, and, at the same site, an exposition entitled “Saint Paul.”
The motto for this event which is both cultural and religious, was taken from Saint Paul's hymn to Charity: “If I do not have love, I am nothing” (1 Cor 13:2). Collaborating in the initative is Archbishop Stanislaw Nowak of Czestochowa and Tadeusz Wrona, Mayor of Czestochowa, along with the Cultural Pastoral Office of the Archdiocese, the “Gaude Mater” Cultural Institute, and the Catholic journal “Niedzela,” as well as other cultural groups in the city of Czestochowa.
The program of events for the 6th celebration of the Christian Culture Days calls for 35 different cultural and religious events such as expositions, presentations of films with Christian values, theatrical performances, and the presentation and promotion of religious books. Among these events is the presentation of the film “Testimony,” on John Paul II and which is based upon the book written by Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz “A Life with Karol,” and a special photo exposition on Saint Paul, prepared by the photo-reporters and graphics studio of “Niedzela.” The exposition will show photos of the places frequented by Saint Paul in Rome, Malta, Greece, and Turkey, taken by photo-reporters from the magazine.
