Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) – The Parish of Sts. Peter and Paul offers their visitors a chance to know of St. Paul’s missionary activity, realize the importance of their own vocation as missionaries like Saint Paul, and to gain the indulgence for the jubilee year. According to a report from the Kong Ko Bao (the Chinese version of the diocesan bulletin), the Parish of Sts. Peter and Paul, St. Paul, and Christ the King have all been designated by the Diocese as sites for diocesan pilgrimages for the Year of St. Paul (June 28, 2008 to June 29, 2009).
Until now, the Parish of Sts. Peter and Paul, which has a volunteer team of thirty, has welcomed 40 visiting groups. The volunteers have prepared a video projection on the life and mission of Saint Paul and a map that shows his missionary journeys. They also present the pilgrims with the history and life of the parish and give them guided tours, including the Chapel dedicated to Saint Pious.
According to Fr. Gervais E. Baudry, of the Incarnate Word Institute, during the pilgrimage, “the pilgrims have been able to learn about the life of St. Paul, learning about the communion that is shown to us by this great model.” The pilgrims themselves have understood the spiritual sense of communion, and that with the indulgence “we can obtain graces for others, for souls in purgatory.” One volunteer affirmed: “I hadn’t realized how beautiful our church is and how difficult our parish journey is. Thanks to this service, I have been able to see how we should appreciate what we have in the parish, on both a spiritual and material level.” (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 17/9/2008)
