Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) – According to a report from Christian Life Weekly, the weekly bulletin for the Archdiocese of Tai Pei, the Cathedral recently held a solemn celebration of the rite of missionary sending for the Cursillo Movement of the Archdiocese of Tai Pei. In celebrating its 40th anniversary of missions in Taiwan, this event is meant to highlight the intense communion of all the Cursillo Movement’s members in the Lord, focusing on the commitment of the entire community to “Sound the trumpet of justice, to become a light of truth.”
The Cursillo Movement began in Mallorca (Spain), upon the initiative of Bishop Juan Hervas, in 1948. The movement quickly spread throughout the world, with the formation of groups of baptized faithful who would become “ferment” for evangelizing in their life and work atmospheres. On July 29, 2000, Pope John Paul II received some of its members in an audience. It was officially recognized by the Pontifical Council for the Laity on June 21, 2004. The movement arrived in Taiwan in 1968 and has experienced great success among the Taiwanese faithful, especially among the youth. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 4/7/2008)
