EUROPE/GERMANY - German Catholic Bishops’ Conference launches a new website for the Pauline Year: “Let’s journey with the Apostle Paul!”

Thursday, 19 June 2008

Bonn (Agenzia Fides) – On the occasion of the Pauline Year announced by the Holy Father Benedict XVI, upon the 2,000th anniversary of the birth of Saint Paul, from June 28, 2008 to June 29, 2009, the German Catholic Bishops’ Conference (DBK) has launched a new internet site dedicated to his great Church event.
During the Pauline Year, all the faithful are invited to discover not only the person of the Apostle of the Gentiles and his many missionary travels, but also his teachings and spirituality. With this in mind, the German Bishops will use the internet site to offer basic information on Saint Paul, his writings, and his theology, as well as to present various themes and initiatives for concrete action. Among other things, there are workbooks, guidelines for Bible Study and the Liturgy, programs of the various pastoral initiatives in German dioceses, and recent news updates. Through their website, the Bishops are reaching out not only to parishes, formation institutes, associations, and religion teachers...but also to all those interested in information on the Apostle Paul or that wish to participate in the many jubilee activities during the year.
Throughout all the German dioceses and Catholic institutions, various events, pilgrimages, and ecumenical (and other) celebrations are being planned for the Pauline Year. “There are many opportunities for placing the theme of the Apostle Paul at the heart of our parishes, Bible Study groups, Caritas conferences, associations, communities, and Church movements, and for becoming enthusiastic about our Christian faith,” writes the President of the German Bishops’ Conference, Archbishop Robert Zollitsch of Freiburg. The message that greets those who enter the site is: “Let’s journey with the Apostle Paul!”. (MS) (Agenzia Fides 19/6/2008)
