Friday, 15 February 2008

Czestochowa (Agenzia Fides) - The “Missionary Workshops” in the Archdiocese of Czestochowa are organised on the third Saturday of every month, by the diocesan Director of the Pontifical Missions Societies, Fr. Jacek Gancarek, who began the workshops in 2000, at the request of Archbishop of Czestochowa, Archbishop Stanislaw Nowak.
“Through the missionary workshops, we hope to present the richness and importance of the missionary challenge today. We also wish to offer the people a testimony of missionary work…”Fr. Jacek Gancarek explained. “There are many groups and movements of the Pontifical Missions Societies in our Archdiocese. Also, in our schools, the missionary theme presents itself in the religion classes. The missionary workshops are one of the initiatives of pastoral ministry especially geared towards children and young people.”
The missionary workshop that will take place February 16 in Czestochowa, in St. James the Apostle Parish, has as its theme: “Education for the mission and the role of animators and missionary volunteers in the missionary work with youth and in parishes.” The workshops are continually attended by priests, religious, catechists, missionary animators, in addition to the entire staff of the Pontifical Missions Societies in the parishes of the Archdiocese. During the workshops, the missionaries offer a presentation of their work, the missionary challenges for the Church in evangelising, and the theme for educating for the missions. In this way, participants of the workshops can see the missionary progress, as well as the various social, cultural, and economic problems in the various countries of Africa, Asia, Oceania, and Latin America.
