Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, on 24 April 2013 appointed Fr. Michael Abdo Abdo OCD as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Union of the Holy Land for five years from 2013 to 2018.
Father Abdo was born on June 22, 1971 in Kobayath in northern Lebanon. From 1990 to 1992 he studied philosophy at the Holy Spirit University in Kaslik. In 1995 he graduated in theology at the Pontifical Theological Faculty Teresianum in Rome. In 1998 he was ordained a priest. Since 2005 he has been attending biblical and archaeological courses at the Studium Biblicum Francescanum in Jerusalem. Since 2010 he has been pastor of the Latin Church of St. Joseph in Haifa. (GV).
