AFRICA/MALAWI - The Pope accepts the resignation of the Bishop of Lilongwe and appoints successor

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI on 4 July 2007 accepted the resignation of the pastoral government of the diocese of Lilongwe (Malawi), presented by Bishop Felix Eugenio Mkhori, in conformity with the Code of Canon Law, canon 401 § 1. The Bishop is succeeded by Bishop Rémi Joseph Gustave Sainte-Marie, M. Afr., Coadjutor of the same diocese. (S.L.) (Agenzia Fides 4/7/2007; Righe 5; Parole 71)
