Saturday, 28 April 2007

Roma (Agenzia Fides) - Today 28 April 2007, at “B.V. Consolata” Presidio Fatebenefratelli, S. Maurizio Canavese (Torino), there will be a debate in memory of Father Luigi Marchesi, ex-General of the St John of God Hospitaller Brothers who died in 2002, on the occasion of the presentation of a book “Umanizzazione, Storia e Utopia”, a collection of his more important interventions on the theme of the humanisation of the world of healthcare.
The day is promoted by the Associazione Italiana per la Pastorale della Salute (AIPAS), the St John of God Hospitaller Brothers, La Piccola Casa della Divina Provvidenza (Cottolengo) and the Office for Healthcare Pastoral of the archdiocese of Torino.
Fr Marchesi is considered in the world of healthcare a pioneer and prophet of a humanised approach to the patient. This anthology is presented 25 years after the publication of his most emblematic document “Umanizzazione”, now a classic in healthcare literature, for the challenge it still represents to healthcare today and not only religious.
Speakers will include: Brother Marco Fabello, AIPAS president and editor of the Rivista Fatebenefratelli; Pietro Quattrocchi, president of the Comitato Etico al Fatebenefratelli -Isola Tiberina in Rome; Luigi Fiori, Psychiatrist at the Presidio Fatebenefratelli di San Maurizio Canavese; Trentalange Alfredo, collaborator of Brother P. Marchesi. Moderator will be Carmine Arice, a cottolenghino priest, head of the Office for Pastoral Care for Healthcare Workers at Cottolengo Hospital. (AP) (Agenzia Fides; Righe;23 Parole:220)
