ASIA/TAIWAN - Rector of Regional Seminary of Taipei appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, on August 6, 2009, appointed Fr. Eugene Lin Chi-Cheng, of the clergy of the Diocese of Kaohsiung, Rector of the Regional Seminary of the Archdiocese of Taipei (Taiwan).
The new Rector was born August 18, 1954 in Pingtung (Taiwan). After attending Pius X Seminary in Tainan, he was ordained a priest on June 4, 1984, in Kaohsiung. After his ordination, he carried out his pastoral ministry in two parishes in the Diocese of Kaohsiung, and in 1994 continued studies at De La Salle University, in the Philippines. From 1997-1998, and 2002-2006, he was Religious Assistant, Counselor, and Director of General Affairs at St. Paul's High School in Kaohsiung. From 1998-2002, he was Spiritual Director of the Regional Catholic Seminary of Taiwan, of which he has been Vie-Rector and Director of General Affairs since 2007. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 29/10/2009)
