ASIA/KOREA - New National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies

Vatican City (Fides Service) - Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples on 1 February 2007 appointed Rev. Dominic Kim Hwa-seok of the diocesan clergy of Masan, National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Korea for a five year term (2007-2012).
The new National Director was born on 4 October 1962 at Jinhae, Gyeongnam and ordained a priest on 29 June 1990. He completed his studied at Catholic Universities in Gwangju (1985) and Daegu (1990), while ministering in three different parishes. He then undertook studies in Social Communications in Rome at the Studio Paolino Internazionale della Comunicazione Sociale (1996/1999), and at Sogang University in Korea (1999/2004). He was parish priest for four years (2001/2004), then Director of Information Technology in the diocese of Masan (2001/2004) and Director of the diocese’s Social Communications Department (2005/2006).
