ASIA/HONG KONG - God’s love for humanity and humanity’s response: over 120 young people take part in Prayer Meeting organised by the Diocesan Vocations Commission

Thursday, 8 February 2007

Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - “I truly love you” was the theme of a Prayer Meeting held at St Andrews parish church and organised by the Hong Kong diocesan Commission for Vocations. The prayer meeting focused on God’s love for humanity and humanity’s response of love for God. According to the diocesan bulletin Kong Ko Bao over 120 young people took part in the initiative on 21 January to contemplate God’s love and how, through this Love, the Lord calls every person to love others. Before community prayer the participants listened to vocational and missionary testimony given by Rev Paul Kam Po Wai, the first priest of Hong Kong diocese sent on mission to Africa to help with pastoral work.
In a spirit of profound communion and sincere dialogue a young participant asked the priest how he should respond to God’s call. By way of an answer Fr Paul asked: “How did Mary reply to the Lord for the birth of Christ? She said: be it done as you will! This is enough! If a young person hears the Lord’s call he or she must have the courage to accept the call, like Mary accepted the mission entrusted by the Lord”. After sharing with those present his missionary experience in Africa Fr Paul led meditation and then prayers for vocations. (NZ)(Agenzia Fides 08/02/2007 Righe: 23 Parole: 235)
