AFRICA/UGANDA - New National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples on 17 November 2006 appointed Rev. Philip Balikuddembe of the diocese of Hoima, National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Uganda for a five year term (2006-2011).
The new National Director was born in Kichumaazi,Kibedi (Uganda) on 22 September 1947. He entered Saint Thomas Aquinas minor seminary in Katigondo (1970/1971), and then went to study at the National Major Seminary in Gaba (1972/1978). He was ordained a priest on 21 September 1975 at Bukuumi. He studied in Ireland at Dublin University 2002-2003 for a B.A. Development Studies.
