VATICAN - This year San Pietro Apostolo and San Paolo Apostolo colleges have 321 resident student priests from all over the world in Rome for further studies at Pontifical Universities

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Every year a good number of priests in mission countries are sent to Rome by their bishops for further studies at Pontifical Universities. The Pontifical Colleges San Pietro apostolo and San Paolo apostolo, recently published the list of student priests resident for the academic year 2006/2007.
The total number of student priests 321, (187 at Collegio San Paolo and 134 at Collegio San Pietro) represent 48 nations at Collegio S. Paolo and 45 at Collegio S. Pietro. The continent with the most representatives is Africa (76 priests at S. Paolo and 71 at S. Pietro), followed by Asia (95 at S. Paolo and 50 at S. Pietro), and America (10 at S. Paolo and 12 a S. Pietro), Oceania (3 at S. Paolo and 1 at S. Pietro) and Europe (3 at S. Paolo). A total 161 dioceses, apostolic vicariate and Prelatures are represented at S.Paolo and 116 at S. Pietro. Religious congregations represented: 4 at S. Paolo and 3 at S. Pietro.
Highest number of student priests in this order: India (27 at S. Paolo and 9 at S. Pietro); Nigeria (7 at S. Paolo and 7 at S. Pietro);Colombia (4 at S. Paolo and 1 at S. Pietro); per Papua Nuova Guinea (2 at S. Paolo); Europe has 1 representative from Bosnia Herzegovina; 1 from Poland and 1 from Russia at Collegio S. Paolo.
Most of the students have enrolled at: Urban University 114 from Collegio S. Paolo and 69 from Collegio San Pietro; Pontificio Istituto Biblico (22 students from Collegio S. Paolo and 12 from Collegio San Pietro); Pontificia Università Gregoriana (18 from S. Paolo and 10 from S. Pietro). The most popular faculties: Canon Law (30 students from Collegio S. Paolo and 22 from S.Pietro); Sacred Scripture (22 from S. Paolo and 12 from S.Pietro); Missiology (19 from S. Paolo and 14 from S.Pietro) and Biblical Theology (17 from S. Paolo and 12 from S.
