VATICAN - Urban University to host Academic Act for 500th anniversary of the birth of Saint Francis Xavier: Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone will speak on “the Church’s mission in the time of Francis Xavier and in our day”

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On Tuesday December 5, Urban University will host an Academic Act to close a year of celebrations to mark the 500th anniversary of the birth of Saint Francis Xavier (1506-1549), Patron of the Missions. After a welcome address by the Grand Chancellor of the Unviersity, Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, and an introduction by the Rector Mgr Ambrogio Spreafico, the first address will be given by Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, Holy See Secretary of State, on the theme “Communicating the faith: the Church’s mission in the time of Francis Xavier and in our day”, followed by a conference on the theme “The birth of a new ecclesial figure and his service: Francis Xavier the missionary” speaker Prof. Gianni Colzani.
