AFRICA/NIGERIA - New rector appointed for All Saints inter-diocesan seminary in Benin City

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples on 8 September 2006, appointed Rector of the All Saints Inter-Diocesan Seminary in Benin City (Nigeria), Rev. Paul Kehinde Oredipe, a member of the diocesan clergy of Ijebu-Ode.
The new rector was born on 27 August 1967 at Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State (Nigeria). He attended St. Theresa’s Minor Seminary, Oke-Are, Ibadan (1979/84) and then studied at Saints Peter and Paul Seminary in Bodjia, Ibadan to study philosophy and theology (1984/92). He was ordained a priest on 22 August 1992. He completed his studies at Louvain Catholic University in Belgium (1994/96), and obtained a doctorate at the Pontifical Santa Croce University in Rome (2000/2002). In the diocese of Ijebu-Ode, 1992 - 1994, he acted as the Bishop’s secretary, assistant to the vocations director, administrator of the cathedral. At All Saints Seminar 1996 - 2000, he was a teacher, secretary and sports director; since 2002 he has been teacher, head of the section for philosophy, in charge of Liturgy.
