Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father Leo XIV has appointed the Reverend Father John Baptist Nguyen Quang Tuyen, of the clergy of the same Archdiocese, as Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Thành-Phô Hô Chí Minh, currently Parish Priest of Nam Thai and Director of the Diocesan Commission for the Family, assigning him the titular See of Perdices.
John Baptist Nguyen Quang Tuyen was born on May 26, 1969. He studied Philosophy and Theology at St. Joseph's Major Seminary in Thành-Phô Hô Chí Minh.
He was ordained a priest on June 28, 2003, and was incardinated in the Archdiocese of Thanh-Phô Ho Chí Minh.
He has held the following positions and completed further studies: Parish Vicar of Tan Chi Linh (2003-2005) and Fatima Binh Trieu (2005-2007); Pastoral Renewal Program at the East Asia Pastoral Institute, Philippines (2008-2009); service at the Pastoral Center of the Archdiocese of Thanh-Phô Ho Chí Minh (2009-2010); Studies in Pastoral Theology and pastoral service at Notre Dame Parish, Maryland (USA) (2011-2017); Spiritual Director of the Emmanuele Community (2017); Currently, he has served as parish priest of Nam Thai (since 2018), spiritual director of the Cursillo Movement (since 2019), and director of the Diocesan Commission for the family (since 2022).
