AMERICA/PARAGUAY - 1st International Meeting on Bio-Ethics in Paraguay 5 to 7 July

Asuncion (Agenzia Fides) - From 5 to 7 July the city of Asuncion in Paraguay will host the 1st International Meeting on Bio-Ethics promoted jointly by the Consortium of Catholic Doctors in Paraguay and the Pontifical Academy for Life. The Meeting will open with Mass presided by Archbishop Pastor Cuquejo of Asunción, followed by a conference "Introduction to Bio-ethics: development, environment and methodology" by Mgr Maurizio Calipari, of the Pontifical Academy for Life. Other conferences include the following: “Principal models of thought in Bio-ethics", "Ontological personalism in Bio-ethics", "Human sexuality in modern philosophical and cultural thought" and "Human sexuality: anthropological-value focus ". Bishop Fernando Chomali, auxiliary of Santiago de Chile, will speak on "Contraception and natural birth regulation methods ", Fr Rubén Revello (Argentina) will speak about "Bio-ethics Committees" and Elena Lugo (Puerto Rico) on "Bio-ethics, Justice and Health". The Congress will close on 7 July with Mass in the Cathedral presided by the apostolic nuncio to Paraguay, Archbishop Orlando Antonini. (RG) (Agenzia Fides 4/7/2006, righe 14, parole 190)
