ASIA/TAIWAN - New Rector appointed for Taiwan Regional Seminary

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples on 21 May 2006, appointed Rector of Taiwan Regional Seminary, rev. Joseph Huang, of the diocesan clergy of Taichung.
The new rector is 51 years old and was ordained 22 years ago. He studied philosophy and theology at Tainan Seminary. He has held the following posts: diocesan chancellor Taichung; Direttore spiritual director for the association for the promotion of vocations; secretary of the Renewal in the Spirit Movement. In 2002, during a Sabbatical year he studied at the East Asia Pastoral Institute (EAPI) in the Philippines. He was promoter of the Renewal in the Spirit Movement for 18 years of the Cursillos Movement and the Legion of Mary. Since July 2003 he has been vice rector and dean of general affairs at the Seminary. He is most appreciated for his missionary zeal and dedication to the formation of seminarians. (S.L.)
