AMERICA/ECUADOR - Damas Salesianas open new medical centre for poor people in Cuenca

Rome (Agenzia Fides) - On June 5th the Francisco de Sales Centre run by the Damas Salesianas opened a new medical care centre complete with a team of expert doctors and nurses and modern equipment for diagnosis and laboratory tests.
The Centre is for the people in and around Cuenca especially the poorest families. The Francisco de Sales Centre was blessed by rev. Alberto Henriques, director and parish priest of the Shrine of Our Lady Help of Christians. Guest of honour at the inauguration was the provincial healthcare director who admired the new centre and voiced appreciation for its service to the local people.
Maria de Lourdes Amador coordinator of the “Damas Salesianas”, explained that the Centre gives “loving care and attention to each individual patient”. The Centre has a chemist shop, the Maria Ausiliatrix Pharmacy, which deals with about 500 prescriptions every day and has the lowest prices in town.
