EUROPE/LUXEMBOURG - Holy Childhood European Conference “Children of Abraham-Inter-religious Dialogue”

Luxembourg (Fides Service) - “Children of Abraham-Inter-religious Dialogue” was the timely topic discussed at a Holy Childhood European Conference (CEME) held from 26 to 29 March 2006 in Luxembourg. The meeting was organised by Holy Childhood national offices in England and Wales, Ireland and Scotland in close collaboration with CEME President Jean Lazarus. The programme included conferences on important issues: Sr. Victoria Hummel, a primary school teachers and for 16 years advisor to Catholic schools in the diocese of Westminster spoke on “Church Relations with non Christian Religions: Dialogue with Islam”; the secretary of the Catholic Bishops Conference of England and Wales’ Committee for Catholic Jewish Relations Sr. Clare Jardine gave a paper on “Encounter and Dialogue with the Jews”; Fr Patrick Byrne secretary general of the Pontifical Society for Holy Childhood in Rome gave a report on the Secretariat’s activity in the path year. Ample space was given to work groups and sharing ideas and experience among Holy Childhood delegates from all over Europe.
