ASIA/SRI LANKA - National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies appointed

Vatican City (Fides Service) - Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples on 27 January 2006, appointed National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Sri Lanka for a five year term (2006-2011) Rev. Fr Antonio Reginaldo Saparamadu.
The new national director was born on 29 November 1943 and ordained a priest on 25 January 1973 at the Cathedral St. Lucia of Kotahena, Colombo. From 1955 to 1964 he attended St. Aloysius minor seminary; 1964 to 1968 national seminary of Our Lady of Lanka and 1968 to 1972 at Propaganda Fide College. He also studied at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome 1968 - 1972. Fr Saparamadu was for 15 years (1987-2002) diocesan director of the Pontifical Mission Societies.
