AFRICA/GUINEA - National Director of Pontifical Mission Societies appointed

Vatican City (Fides Service) - Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples on 10 February 2006 appointed Rev. Bernard Tolno National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Guinea for a five year term (2006-2011).
Rev Tolno is a member of the clergy of the diocese of Kankan. He was born at Kissidougou on 20 June 1963, fourth of six children. After studying philosophy and theology at the major seminary he went to Lyons, France, for further studies at the Del Prado Association of Priests Formation House and the Catholic University of Lyons. Since his ordination he has been: major seminarian delegate at Saint Augustin seminary Bamako (1995/6); assistant priest (1997/2004); diocesan youth chaplain (1997/99); parish bursar (1997/2000); director of a rebuilding programme funded by Jesuit Refugee Service in the disaster affected town of Gueckédou; youth chaplain in France (2003); head of the Del Prado Association of Priests in Guinea (2004); since 2004 director of Blessed John XXIII minor seminary in Kindia.
