Bogota (Fides Service) - To assume commitment to protect human life and work tirelessly to guarantee every human person including the unborn child the right to life and a dignified life a pro life pilgrimage has been organised for 2 April in a Bogota, from 9 am to 1pm led by the image of “Divino Niño Jesús del 20 de julio”. The event is expected to draw thousands of Catholics and institutions anxious to protect life (parishes, apostolic groups, movements, ordinary Catholics etc). The pilgrimage will move through central Bogota to Bolivar Square where an outdoor mass will be presided by Cardinal Pedro Rubiano Saénz archbishop of Bogota and primate of Colombia.
The pilgrimage organised by the Salesian Divino Niño Jesús Institute is to be an act of reparation for the serious offence to God committed with abortion and to manifest concrete respect for human life, including the life of the unborn child.. The pilgrimage will be preceded by a media information campaign to increase awareness with the help of specially prepared print material to promote a “Pro-Life Prayer Campaign” all over the country .
The organisers invite people in every corner of Colombia to support the Bogota e pro-life pilgrimage with similar local initiatives, processions, prayer meetings, public demonstrations, a minute of silence, ringing of church bells and other activities to demonstrate determination to protect human life from the moment of conception to natural end.
