Wednesday, 8 March 2006

La Pampa (Fides Service ) - Disciples of Jesus and brothers and sisters for all people” is the slogan of the annual Meeting for the Catechists of the archdiocese of Buenos Aires. The meeting will be on Saturday 11 March at Manuel Belgrano School in La Pampa. The theme was chosen in relation to the theme of the 5th General Conference of the Council of Latin American Bishops’ Conference scheduled for 2007 “Disciples and missionaries of Jesus Christ that our peoples may have life in Him”.
The annual catechists’ meeting has the following objectives: start the new catechetical year by deepening communion among catechists in the archdiocese; grow as disciples of Jesus and live the vocation of a catechist to be a brother or sister to every person; discuss as catechists of the archdiocese how to be Church in Buenos Aires today. A presentation of the event reads: “In order to continue to announce with joy that Jesus is Lord we wish to begin the year reflecting together on what makes us disciples. The Lord who called us is the origin point of departure of our vocation as catechists. Only an encounter with the living Lord can change and lead people to reach other to our brothers and sisters to spread the Good News. This meeting is to help catechists become more aware of their journey of communion with Christ in order to live more fully their vocation as catechists”.
The meeting will include reflection, work groups and two conferences: “Called to live in communion” (José María Vallarono) and “the archdiocese in Assembly” (Enrique Eguía Seguñi). The meeting will close with Mass presided by Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, archbishop of Buenos Aires. (RG) (Agenzia Fides 8/3/2006 - righe 21, parole 276)
