Hong Kong (Fides Service) - “Come and See” was the invitation made to Catholics in Hong Kong diocese by Italian PIME missionary Fr Giovanni Giampietro in view of a workshop aimed at helping the laity take a more active part in the life and activity of the Church. The workshop was open to baptised Catholics and also to catechumens preparing for baptism.
According the Hong Kong diocesan bulletin Kong Ko Bao about 30 priests, deacons and lay people from various parishes in Hong Kong took part in the initiative promoted by the diocesan Office for Lay Formation on the theme: “Three dimensional faith: the many aspects of a small community”. Speaking to those present Fr Giampietro said: “Some people feel they are only the priest’s assistants, they fail to realise that they are full members of the community. We must help people realise this so they may play a more active part in pastoral work ”.
The diocesan Office for Lay Formation promotes lay formation in parishes and basic ecclesial communities. (Agenzia Fides 2/02/2006 Righe: 19 Parole: 173)
