Rome (Fides Service) - The 3rd Conference of Alliance of Italian Hospitals held recently in Naples at the Royal Palace in Caserta connected 33 of the best hospitals in Italy with 34 Italian hospitals in various other countries.
Bambino Gesu Children’s Hospital in Rome was one of the first to join IPOCM project for integration and improvement of Italian hospitals and medical centres all over the world, chosen for its experience with a Health Portal, one of three ‘pilot’ hospitals.
After an experimental stage from the beginning of operations (June 2005) to 21 November, 120 requests for tele-consultation were requested from Italian hospitals in the world: 16 of these requests reached Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital from Italian medical centres in Argentina, Angola, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Jordan, Kenya, Zambia.
To guarantee satisfactory answers in the given time (72 ore) the work was organised in synergy by the Direzione Sanitaria and Direzione dei Sistemi Informativi ed Organizzazione (DSIO).
The Direzione Sanitaria forwards requests to the doctors of the Virtual Department on the basis of specific pathology and guarantees prompt and medically valid answers. During the Summer the service involved also doctors not belonging to the Virtual Department who distinguished themselves for spontaneous and immediate participation typical of the staff of Virtual Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital.
