Hong Kong (Fides Service) - According to Hong Kong diocesan bulletin Kong Ko Bao the congregation of the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception MIC has united its communities in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan to form a new Asian province in view of more effective and co-ordinated evangelisation in the Far East. Sr Librada Bantilan has been appointed first Provincial Superior. The provincial executive Council hopes the new province will bear witness with a life of communion on the Asian continent marked by religious pluralism.
The Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception MIC was founded in 1902 in Montreal, Canada, where there is the Mother House. The first missionaries arrived in Hong Kong in 1928 to carry the Gospel to the people of Asia.
