Taipei (Fides Service) - Would you like to be “a little angel of the Beatitudes”? Ask your bank for a “Beatitudes Credit Card”. This call was launched by the Catholic Bishops of Taiwan to Catholics and all men and women of goodwill willing to support Catholic charity work and social services. According to Christian Life Weekly Taipei diocesan bulletin, the purpose of the Bishops’ initiative undertaken with the China Commercial Bank is to expand Catholic charity and social services. The Beatitudes Credit Card is an encouragement to help support the initiatives in aid of the needy.
The card works like any other credit card and can be used to make direct donations and 0.25% of the annual payments go to charity work promoted by the Bishops’ Conference.
During the presentation of the initiative in Taipei diocesan offices, Cardinal Paul Shan said: “The campaign is valid for 365 days a year. It is open to Catholics and all men and women who support the spirit of the Beatitudes and want to help those in difficulty. Anyone can become a ‘little angel of the Beatitudes’ and spread goodness and blessings”. (Agenzia Fides 23/11/2005 Righe: 22 Parole: 234)
