ASIA/HONG KONG - A Day of Adoration concludes Year of the Eucharist: new begining for Catholic community in Hong Kong

Thursday, 3 November 2005

Hong Kong (Fides Service) - To mark the closing of the special Year of the Eucharist Hong Kong diocese organised 24 hours Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. The initiative, 5 and 6 November at the Christ the King Parish will involve all sectors of the Catholic community in turn - associations, movements, parishes, individuals.
The decision was motivated by the need to encourage Adoration to help people discover the strength and peace which flows from the presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. According to Hong Kong diocesan bulletin Kong Ko Bao Salesian Fr Domingos Leong, a member of the diocesan commission for liturgy said: “The laity need to be educated on the significance of the liturgy. The Year of the Eucharist was a good and important initiative. It has helped many to grow in love for Adoration”.
Fr Leong reminded the faithful of the need for confession and prayer before receiving communion. He said the Year of the Eucharist marked a new beginning for Catholics in Hong Kong and he urged them to find time for a daily visit to the Blessed Sacrament.
