New Delhi (Agenzia Fides) - Pastor Sumati Prakash Kharadia, of the Protestant community "Assembly of God," was attacked and brutally beaten by a mob of about 25 extremists in the village of Sabli, in Rajasthan. The Pastor is now in hospital with injuries and fractures. "The brutal attack on an innocent Pentecostal Pastor, took place on March 20 in Rajasthan, a month after Christians were beaten in Churu district in Rajasthan, on charges of proselytizing" says to Fides Sajan K. George, president of the "Global Council of Indian Christians" (GCIC), deploring the incident and violence against minorities by Hindu radical groups.
"These are baseless accusations. The groups of the Hindu right are targeting Christians on charges of operating fraudulent conversions. The Indian Constitution guarantees religious freedom and we ask the government to enforce it", notes the GCIC. (NC-PA) (Agenzia Fides 23/03/2016)
