AFRICA/MAURITIUS - National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies appointed

Vatican City (Fides Service) - Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples on 25 June 2005 appointed National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in the Indian Ocean region for a five year term (2004-2009) Rev. Jean Maurice Labour of the clergy of the Arcidiocese of Port-Louis.
The new National Director was born on 22 November 1947 in Mauritius. After studying medicine for some time at the University of Mauritius he worked as a journalist 1967 and then as a health inspector 1968/1970. He entered the seminary in 1970 and was ordained a priest on 24 June 1979. Since then he has been assistant priest and then parish priest invarious parishes and head of vocations and youth pastoral.
