ASIA/INDIA - New Rector appointed for Good Shepherd inter-diocesan Seminary, Coimbatore

Vatican City (Fides Service) - Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples on 1 April 2005 appointed Rector of Good Shepherd inter-diocesan Seminary, Coimbatore, Rev. Raphaelnathan Joseph Raj of the clergy of the archdiocese of Pondicherry and Cuddalore.
The new rector was born on 22 March 1954 at Kovilanure, Tamil Nadu. He was ordained a priest on 2 June 1981 for the archdiocese of Pondicherry and Cuddalore. He studied Social Sciences at Kamaraj University in Madurai and Sociology at Annamalai University in Chidambaram, then systematic Theology at Urban University in Rome. He has taught theology, Christology, Mariology and ecclesiology in the diocese of Coimbatore. He has spoken at seminars and conferences and published several books and articles in English and Tamil.
