Monday, 27 June 2005

Ouagadougou (Fides Service) - June 23 and 24 were important days for the family of the Church in Burkina, the local community of Camillian Brothers in particular.
In fact those were the days chosen by the Superiors of St. Jean Baptiste Seminary Ouagadougou for the ordination of 15 young men as deacons, including five Camillian Brothers Sidore Bandaogo, Modeste Ouedraogo, Marius Ouedraogo, Marius Belemgnegre and Omer Fulbert Sodere.
On June 23 Bishop Luc Sanon of Banfora had the joy of instituting 29 lectors (3 of them Camillians) and 23 acolytes (2 of them Camillians). Lectors are ministers for reading the Word of God to the people and acolytes assist priests in their service at the altar.
On June 24 feast of the birth of St John the Baptist, the family of the local Church had the joy of welcoming 15 new deacons ordained by the Bishop of Banfora. Deacons promise to live a life of prayer, chastity and obedience to the Bishop of Superior and their ministry is to proclaim the Gospel and serve at the altar.
