AFRICA/BURKINA FASO - New rector of St Peter Claver inter-diocesan major seminary in Bobo-Dioulasso

Vatican City (Fides Service) - Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples on 1 April 2005 appointed Rector of the St Peter Claver inter-diocesan major seminary in the archdiocese of Bobo-Dioulasso, (Burkina Faso) Rev D. Hilaire Hien of Diébougou diocese.
The new rector was born on 14 January 1962 at Dano. He attended Nasso minor seminary in Bobo-Dioulasso and then studied philosophy at St Jean Baptiste major seminary in Ouagadougou and theology at Koumi major seminary Bobo-Dioulasso. He was ordained a priest in Diébougou on 30 December 1988. He then taught at St. Tarsicius minor seminary in Diébougou (1988/89) followed by two years of pastoral ministry at the parish of Dano (1989/1990). From 1990 to 1992 he attended the Catholic Institute in Abidjan for a Licentiate in Biblical Theology. From 1992 to 1996 he studied at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome obtaining a Licentiate in Sacred Scripture. Since he has been 1996 professor of Sacred Scripture at St Jean-Baptiste major seminary in Ouagadougou. (S.L.) (Agenzia Fides 24/5/2005; Righe 13; Parole 173)
