Jerusalem (Fides Service) - “The atmosphere is one of fervent and confident prayer. The Christian communities in the Holy Land are in heart and mind with the Pope who loves this Land and has done and prayed so much to restore peace to the region”: Franciscan Fr Artemio Vitores, in Jerusalem told Fides. “In all our communities today morning prayer and Masses were offered for the Holy Father and his intentions” Fr Vitories told Fides, adding that Christians in the Holy Land are deeply attached to Pope John Paul II and he to them. “The Holy Father has shown his love for us in many ways, including his Jubilee Journey to the Holy Land in March 2000, which crowned his efforts to promote dialogue and peace. The Pope changed our relations with Jews and with Muslims, he reminded us of our duty to be channels of peace and harmony, he strengthened us in our commitment to be the custodians of the Holy Places. Today all Christians here are praying for him and remembering with gratitude all he has done for us and for our land”. (PA) (Agenzia Fides 1/4/2005 righe 18 parole 189)
