ASIA/SOUTH KOREA - God’s justice, truth, love will overcome: principle theme of Bishops’ Easter messages

Wednesday, 30 March 2005

Seoul (Fides Service) - In Easter messages to their respective dioceses Korean Bishops urged the faithful to strive to live in the authentic spirit of the Resurrection and follow the path taken by Jesus, encouraging them to be confident that God’s justice, truth and love will triumph, overcoming all difficulties.
Archbishop Nicholas Cheong of Seoul said that Christians must walk “the way of the cross, with the Lord Jesus Christ”, feeling responsibility for the degrade and shadows of the world. In his message Archbishop Paul Ri Moun-hi of Taegu told his people: “When we come to know eternal life, we cannot remain as we were before we knew!”.
The Bishops asked Korean Catholics to continue the work of evangelising society in order to carry the Good News of God’s love to those who have yet to hear it and also to re-evangelise Christians whose faith has become “tepid”. The Church in Korea has always given great importance to the role of the laity and the Bishops urged all to be “salt, light and leaven” in society in this epoch dominated by secularism and consumerism.
