Monday, 7 March 2005

Hong Kong (Fides Service) - A great effort for mission undertaken by the diocese of Hong Kong is bearing fruit. According to the diocesan bulletin Kong Ko Bao about 2,300 people will be baptised during Easter vigil Masses this coming Easter. Most of them completed their itinerary of preparation for the great moment on Sunday 27 February, third Sunday of Lent. Bishop Joseph Zen of Hong Kong and the auxiliary Bishop John Tong had a meeting with the 900 catechumens accompanied by their sponsors and catechists to verify their preparation. The remaining catechumens will take part in the verification event on the last two Sundays of Lent.
The event is not only important for the catechumens, it is also a special experience for the faithful. One of the sponsors said: “As I accompanied this young girl on her itinerary of faith I had the opportunity to strengthen my own relationship with the Lord”.
