ASIA/PAKISTAN - Appointment of the Bishop of Multan

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 29 May 2015 the Holy Father appointed Rev. Benny Mario Travas, Apostolic Administrator as Bishop of the Diocese of Multan (Pakistan).
Rev. Benny Mario Travas was born on November 21, 1966 in Karachi. After completing his studies at the Minor and Major Seminary of Karachi, he was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Karachi on December 7th 1990.
After seven years of pastoral ministry he was sent to Rome for a Licentiate in canon Law, which he obtained at the Pontifical Urbaniana University in 1997. When he returned home, he was Vicar General of Karachi and, at the same time, Rector of the St. Pius X Minor Seminary of the same Archdiocese and professor at the National Catholic Institute of Theology in Karachi. He was also Judge of the ecclesiastical Court of Karachi and member of the College of Consultors and of the Council of Priests. In the last nine months he has held the post of Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Multan. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 29/05/2015)
