Madrid (Agenzia Fides) - Health care, as well as being a right of every man is also the cornerstone of sustainable development and global security. The NGO for development Anesvad recently launched the alarm about the fact that a third of African households become poor because of health costs. Currently about one thousand million people worldwide do not have access to any health service and 100 million each year become poor because of the precarious existing services. Among these, most live in Africa, a continent where people are still dying from preventable causes, in a region that accounts for 11% of the world population, there is only 3% of health personnel and only 1% of economic resources are destined for health care. Moreover it is a continent where the risk that a child dies before 5 years of age is eight times higher than in Europe. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 28/05/2015)
