Rome (Fides Service) - With a first edition of 15,000 copies Turkish in these days becomes one of 141 languages in which, since 1978 “Aid to the Church in Need” has translated “God speaks to his Children”, a collection of Bible passages produced by ACN and diffused in more than 40 million copies. The 15,000 copies in Turkish will be distributed partly in Turkey, about 5,000, and partly among Turks resident in Western Europe. Many positive comments welcomed the initiative including that of Father Lorenzo Piretto, a Dominican serving in Istanbul who said «In its activity of catechesis, the Church in Turkey will greatly benefit from this summary of Sacred Scripture in the local language». Other languages in which “God speaks to his Children” was translated in 2004 include Tukano and Xerente for Brazil, Creole for the Mauritius Islands, Tiv for Nigeria, Bengali and Kannada for India.
