EUROPE/ BOSNIA HERZEGOVINA - Banja Luka Cathedral will host funeral of Catholic priest brutally murdered in his parish at Bosanska Gradiska

Sarajevo (Fides Service) - The funeral of Father Kazimir Viseticki found dead in his home next to the parish church of Saint Roko at Bosanska Gradiska, in the north of the country near the border with Croatia will take place this morning 20 November in Banja Luka cathedral, presided by Bishop Franjo Komarica. The priest will be buried at St. Marko church, Banja Luka. Yesterday Cardinal Vinko Puljic, Archbishop of Sarajevo, celebrated a requiem Mass at the church in Bosanska Gradiska where Father Viseticki was parish priest.
Rev. Kazimir Viseticki, aged 66, who has three brothers also priests, was killed during the night of 17 November. According to information issued by the local police the priest’s body was found tied up and covered in blood in his home next to the Bosanska Gradiska parish church. Most probably the priest was the victim of a robbery and when he reacted his aggressors beat him with a heavy metal rod. On 18 November in a nearby village the police arrested a man aged 34 with a penal record of violence and theft suspected of being connected with the murder. (S.L.)
