AFRICA/ZAMBIA - Resignation of the Bishop of Monze and appointment of successor

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On February 10 , 2014, the Holy Father accepted the resignation from the pastoral governance of the Diocese of Monze (Zambia), by His Exc. Mgr. Emilio Patriarca, in accordance with canon 401 § 1 of the Code of Canon Law. The Holy Father appointed Fr. Moses Hamungole of the clergy of Lusaka, Director of English and kishwahili language programs of Vatican Radio, as Bishop of the Diocese of Monze.
Fr. Moses Hamungole was born on 1 May 1967 in the town of Kafue, Archdiocese of Lusaka. Once he completed primary and secondary schools, he attended the minor Seminary of Mukasa and then continued his formation for priesthood at St. Augustine Philosophical Seminary and the Theological Seminary of St. Dominic in Lusaka. He was ordained a priest on August 6, 1994 and is incardinated in the Archdiocese of Lusaka. Since ordination he has served in various pastoral roles: 1994-1995: Parochial Vicar of the New Kanyama Parish; 1995-1997: Parochial Vicar of the Railway-Chowa Parish; 1997-1999: Director of Radio Yatsani and of the Communications Office of the Archdiocese in Lusaka; 1999-2002: Studies for the Licentiate in Social Communications at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome; 2002-2008: Secretary for Communications of AMECEA in Nairobi (Kenya); 2002-2009: President of SIGNIS-Africa; 2008-2010: Studies for a doctorate in Social Communications at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium.
