ASIA/INDIA - Rector of Vianney Bhavan regional philosophy seminary Gopalpur appointed

Vatican (Fides Service) - Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples appointed, 26 August 2004, Rector of Vianney Bhavan regional philosophy seminary Gopalpur, India for a two year term (2004-2006), Rev. Marshal Mihir Upasi, of the Berhampur diocesan clergy.
The new rector was born in Nowarangapur, Orissa district on 24 April 1967 and ordained a priest for the diocese of Berhampur on 4 January 1994. He studied philosophy at Morning Star College in Barrackpore and theology at the Pontifical Seminary in Pune. He has a Licentiate in social sciences and communications science from the Pontifical Gregorian University (1997-2000). Among the positions held, he has been director of Social Services and director of the diocesan Communications Centre. He was also the first editor of a regional Catholic periodical “Dibyo Probha”.
