ASIA/HONG KONG - Benoit Vermander, director of the Matteo Ricci Institute in Taiwan, shows paintings in Hong Kong: an encounter of cultures

Hong Kong (Fides Service) - Father Benoit Vermander, director of the Matteo Ricci Institute in Taiwan is not only a scholar of international fame he is an excellent painter and poet. This French born Jesuit is known for his love of nature, poetry, music and art which he sees as means to give glory to God. During years of mission all over mainland China he has drawn inspiration for many works of art, the fruit of meditation and encounter with ordinary people. According to Kong Ko Bao Hong Kong diocese bulletin in Chinese, the works of Father Benoit Vermander, mostly ink paintings, were on show at the Hong Kong’s Diocesan Media Cultural Centre from 3 September to 3 October. in an exhibition “Encounter of ink Chinese painting and Cultures as a means of sharing his experience of mission.
