AFRICA/BURKINA FASO - Appointment of Auxiliary Bishop of Ouagadougou

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father Benedict XVI on May 28, 2012 appointed Rev. Sac. Leopold Ouedraogo, the current Vicar General of the archdiocese as Auxiliary of the Archdiocese of Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), assigning him the titular see of Sutunurca.
Rev. Leopold Ouedraogo, was born on 8 June 1953 in Ouagadougou. After completing his studies in philosophy and theology at the Major Seminary of Saint Pierre Claver in Koumi, he was ordained a priest on June 30, 1979, incardinated in the Archdiocese of Ouagadougou. After ordination, he has held the following Offices: 1979-1982: Assistant priest in Manga; 1982-1984: Teacher at the Inter-Seminary Saint Pierre et Paul; 1984-1986: Studies in mathematics at the State University of Ouagadougou; 1986 -1987: Assistant priest in Guilongou; 1987-1990: studies for a Licentiate in Biblical Theology at the Catholic University of West Africa (UCAO) in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire; 1990-1993: Assistant priest in Dapoya; 1993-1997: Professor at the Major Seminary Saint Jean Baptiste; 1997-1999: Professor at Saint Pierre et Paul Major Seminary; 1999-2006: Rector of the Major Seminary Saint Pierre et Paul; 2006-2007: Sabbatical Year in Italy; since 2007 : Priest at Saint Guillaume de Tanghin.
