Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father Benedict XVI on May 26, 2012, appointed Rev. Dieudonné Espoir Atangana of the clergy of Obala as Bishop of the Diocese of Nkongsamba Cameroon, he was the former rector of the Major Seminary Notre Dame de l’Immaculate Conception of Yaoundé and Notre Dame de l'Espérance of Bertoua.
Rev. Dieudonné Espoir Atangana was born on March 20, 1958 in Ngongo, at the time Archdiocese of Yaoundé, now the diocese of Obala. He studied Philosophy and Theology in his country at the Major Seminary Notre Dame de l'Immaculée Conception of Yaoundé. He obtained a Doctorate in Dogmatic Theology at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome. He was ordained a priest on June 21, 1986 and incardinated in the Archdiocese of Yaoundé, before going to the diocese of Obala. After ordination, he has held the following positions: 1986-1987: Parish Vicar; 1987-1993: Studies in Rome for a Doctorate in Dogmatic Theology (PUU), residing at the Pontifical College of St. Peter the Apostle; 1993-2001: Professor and teacher at the Inter-diocesan Major Seminary Notre Dame de l'Immaculée Conception in Yaoundé; 2001-2002: Vice Rector at the Inter-diocesan Major Seminary Notre Dame de l'Immaculée Conception of Yaoundé; 2002-2008: Rector of the Inter-diocesan Major Seminary Notre Dame de l'Immaculée Conception of Yaoundé; 2008-2011: Rector of the Seminary of Notre Dame de l'Espérance in Bertoua. Since 2011, he is on a sabbatical year and is carrying out his ministry in various parishes in Obala. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 28/5/2012)
